Ice dispenser

A tidewater glacier in Prinz Christian Sound (on the southern tip of Greenland) calves small “bergy-bits,” as the U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker Healy passes by. The Healy, which today routinely undertakes prolonged Arctic research expeditions, was just finishing her ice trials in the summer of 2000 when the captain decided to take the ship through this spectacular passage–as a payoff for his hard working crew.
