Exploring Oceans on Earth and Beyond

Is life unique to Earth or could it be common throughout the Universe? Understanding Earth’s ocean may help us understand our place in the cosmos. And WHOI is playing an important role in NASA’s increasing focus on ocean worlds, which have the exciting potential to reveal evidence for life beyond Earth within the current human generation.

WHOI scientists and engineers are applying their expertise in ocean research and exploration, modeling planetary systems, and building sensors to help inform the search for life on ocean worlds beyond Earth.
