As the science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke once pointed out, “How inappropriate to call this planet Earth, when clearly it is Ocean.” The ocean is the planet’s largest living space and one of the reasons why life exists on Earth at all. So this Earth Day we celebrate the entire diversity of life, above and below the surface, and the many reasons that make our planet a shining blue gem in the solar system.
