Hooked onto a safety line on the back of the Swedish icebreaker Oden, WHOI senior engineering assistant John Kemp hooks a line onto the Camper towed sampling vehicle after it was raised from the Arctic seafloor in July 2007. Kemp–an at-sea/field leader for the WHOI Mooring Operations, Engineering, and Field Support Group–spends several months a year at sea, assembling and deploying instrumented buoys, moorings, and other equipment.
