The Future Face of Science and Engineering

The Future Face of Science and Engineering

February 11, 2018

February 11 is the United Nation’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science. For the past two years, WHOI scientist Anna Michel has brought sixth-graders from Morse Pond Middle School in Falmouth, Mass., to the Institution as part of the Girls in Ocean Engineering and Science (GOES) Institute. Funded by the National Science Foundation, GOES culminates with teams testing a remotely operated vehicle they built during the week. The program will run annually for five years to help promote diversity and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. (Photo by Tom Kleindinst, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
