» Gordon Research Conference on Organic Geochemistry

The John Hunt Symposium has been planned as an enjoyable and informal way for new and old friends of John to honor this remarkable organic geochemical pioneer who passed away last July 23. Also, to honor John's continuing interest in new technology and how it might apply to petroleum geochemistry, the symposium will provide an introduction to some remarkable new developing technologies for exploration of the least well known part of our earth - the ocean. All participants to this year's Organic Geochemistry Gordon Research Conference are invited to attend. We also invite others who wish to honor John or wish to learn more about him.

John was an internationally recognized organic geochemical leader whose book "Petroleum Geochemistry and Geology" is considered to be one of the definitive texts in the field. Many important early concepts in organic geochemistry came directly from petroleum geochemistry in which John was a pioneer. In addition, John was instrumental in helping to build the Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry Department of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as an early oceanic geochemical leader.

Woods Hole is very picturesque. Excellent walking and swimming are easily accessible in Woods Hole.  There are excellent ocean views from rooms where conference will be held.
