Parking at WHOI

Temporary Parking Passes are available from Ellen Bailey.  You will mostly need these if parking in the Village, but not as critical in the Clark Parking Lot (Security has been alerted as to our Workshop).

When parking in the village, there are no reserved spaces for our group and you are asked to use the WHOI School Street Lot.  It’s a few minutes’ walk to the village from there, so let Ellen know if you need other accommodations.

Directions to Falmouth and Woods Hole

Travel Directions from Boston:
Use the Airport exit direction to Boston, go through the harbor tunnel ($3.00 toll) in its right lane and follow signs to Route 93 South after the tunnel exit. After a minimum of 15 minutes through high traffic area the expressway splits, bear right on Rte 93, direction Dedham, New York. (Don't follow sign to Rte 3 to Cape Cod at this point). After the split you are merging into a wider highway, move within the next two miles over to the left lane to take the only left exit to Route 24 South to Brockton, New Bedford, Fall River. After 20 minutes on Rte 24 take the Route 495 exit to Cape Cod (after passing under Route 495). After 30 minutes you cross over the Bourne Bridge (local directions below).

Driving from the Providence R.I. Airport to Falmouth: (Distance 85 miles or 90 minutes driving time) Follow signs to Route 95 North towards Providence. Once on Route 95 you will find signs for Route 195 East towards Cape Cod after 10 minutes of driving. Route 195 will take you to the Bourne Bridge after about 60 minutes.

LOCAL from all points: On the traffic circle at the end of the bridge follow signs to Route 28, direction to Falmouth and the Islands. After 15 miles, the divided highway becomes a two-lane road. Continue straight through the first traffic lights (at Jones Rd); you are on Palmer Avenue. The Falmouth “Inn On The Square” will be about 1/2 mile further, on your right, at the intersection of Palmer Avenue and Depot Avenue. The Falmouth bus station is on Depot Ave. To go to Woods Hole, continue straight past the Inn on the Square, and bear right following signs to Woods Hole & the Islands. Continue down Woods Hole Rd. for about 2.3 miles (through one set of traffic lights) to the Quissett Campus of WHOI on the left. Enter the campus here, and take a left onto the "ring road". Parking for the conference will be on the right, no specifically marked spaces. The Clark Building is beyond the parking lot on the right, and the conference is on the 5th floor of Clark. Temporary parking permits for this lot will be available at registration. The Sands of Time and Sleepy Hollow motels are beyond the Quissett Campus, about 1.5 miles on the right, opposite Little Harbor (Coast Guard Station clearly visible here). Woods Hole village is just beyond the motels, as you bear right onto Water Street.
