First Lego League Teams Get Help from WHOI
Many FIRST LEGO League teams contacted WHOI for information to
help with their Ocean Odyssey projects. To help as many people as possible, WHOI
hosted First Lego League teams at WHOI for a
half-day of scientific presentations on current problems in
oceanographic research.
On Tuesday, November 15, 2005, from 1 pm - 4 pm, 160 students and their
team leaders came to WHOI's Redfield Auditorium to learn about the
latest ocean science research problems from some of the world's leading
investigators.
Topics included:
- Dangers to whales in the North Atlantic
- Oil spills
- Exploring hydrothermal vent systems
- Predicting hurricanes
- Ship wrecks
Because space was limited, teams were selected on a
"first-come-first-served" basis. All the science presentations can be
