3-D Model Framework

We used a 3-D high-resolution biological-physical coupled model system in this study. The system includes a hydrodynamics model - the Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM), and a four-compartment (nitrogen-phytoplankton-zooplankton-detritus, NPZD) biological model. The general modeling framework is shown in the following figure. A detailed description of the model coupling and configuration is given in Ji et al. (2008)
