Research Interests

Understanding and modeling the ocean's general circulation and its role in the Earth's climate. Studying the special role of western boundary currents in the general circulation and eddy-mean flow interactions in them. Accurate modeling of the ocean through improved parameterizations of dynamically important processes. Synthesizing the diverse set of ocean observations to map and understand the large scale circulation, and create metrics for evaluating ocean circulation models.
