Research Statement

I use noble gases (He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, Rn) and ignoble gases (CFC's, SF6 and SF5CF3) as tracers of material transport in the ocean and in porous media. My research takes advantage of the simultaneous measurement of these gases as proxies for the mobilization of inorganic carbon and water in the hydrosphere and cryosphere. Often these measurements represent integrated processes of transport, so I use discrete inverse models to infer the transport properties as probability distributions.
