I sailed on Oceanus several times in the 1980's as part of SOFAR float programs in the Gulf Stream region, studying eddies in the Eastern Atlantic, and studying cross-equatorial flow of North Atlantic Deep Water.  On one cruise we visited Madeira, Grand Canary, and the Azores which was fun.  Great ship, crews, and scientific parties.  On one cruise through the Azores I saw the green flash three times one evening as the ship rose and fell in large swells.  The next morning I saw another green flash as the sun rose. great weather for sightings.  Cook-outs on the fantail were a delight.  It was a pleasure to sail on Oceanus.
