Heidi Sosik is a senior scientist in Biology. Heidi studies the growth of the microscopic plants (phytoplankton) that are the base of most marine food webs. She uses innovative, optically-based approaches to measuring plankton in the ocean. During her time as a fellow, she worked with John Trowbridge to gain a new level of understanding of the physical effects on biological activity. Heidi's fellowship was held jointly between COI and the Ocean Life Institute.
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is dedicated to research and education to advance understanding of the ocean and its interaction with the Earth system, and to communicating this understanding for the benefit of society. Learn more »
