Carin Ashjian

Carin Ashjian is now a senior scientist in Biology. She studies the ecology of zooplankton (microscopic animals). She uses a variety of techniques including experiments with animals to determine their rate of reproduction or grazing. During her fellowship, she concentrated on the effect of climate variability on the oceanography of the North Alaskan coastal region and how climate associated changes in the ecosystem may affect the distribution of marine mammals and the sucess of Iñupiat subsistence hunting.
