Proposal Abstract

Understanding the patterns and processes that control diversity of life in the coastal ocean is a complex challenge. RCRC research seeks to identify changes in biodiversity that result from natural and human-induced processes. For example, researchers are studying blooms of "brown tide" alga (Aureococcus anophagefferens) in shallow coastal bays to understand the relationship between the blooms and other organisms in the pelagic food web.
