Bring the ocean to your inbox
In May, a panel of nearly 150 leaders of large research infrastructure programs visited WHOI for the Annual Review Meeting of the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI). On Sept. 17 in New Bedford, Mass., the public will have an opportunity to learn more about this initiative to create an integrated system of instrumented platforms in the world’s oceans to observe and monitor complex ocean processes. Funded by the National Science Foundation and managed by the Consortium for Ocean Leadership, OOI will establish a network of monitoring instruments in coastal and open ocean sites around the globe to provide 25-30 years of sustained ocean measurements and accelerate progress toward the goal of understanding, predicting, and managing our ocean environment.
