The deep submersible Alvin is recovered to the massive steel A-frame on the stern of its support ship R/V Atlantis. This was the first dive of a December cruise to the Gulf of Mexico led by Chief Scientist Chuck Fisher of Penn State. On this particular dive, which was documented on the Dive and Discover website, Fisher positioned a timelapse camera to observe corals near the site of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon blowout.
