» Doherty Tutorial #1
This tutorial introduces users to the basics of mass spectrometry with special focus on ICPMS.  Hardware (ion source, mass analyzer, ion detection), principles of ion formation, mass/charge separation and ion detection, as well as corrections (dead time, fractionation) and analytical uncertainties are covered.

» Isotope Ratio Measurements
This set of handouts (2 per page) deals with issues that come up whenever a new isotope system is being developed.

The Doherty Tutorials are aimed at introducing students and postdocs to ICPMS technology.  Funding for this initiative was provided through a Doherty Chair in Education to B Peucker-Ehrenbrink by the WHOI Academic Programs Office.
