BIOGRAPHY:
Sue Ferreira joined the WHOI Staff on August 19, 1991 (blew in with Hurricane Bob!) During her time in the GCS Department, she has had several title changes, but was promoted most recently in January 2015 to Post Award Manager.  Prior to coming to WHOI she dabbled with substitute teaching while taking Education courses at Bridgewater State College.  Sue received a B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1987. Sue is a staunch supporter and fan of the Fighting Irish and the New England Patriots. Go Pats!

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Serves as backup for GCS Director as needed, signing as Authorized Institution Official on proposals & awards.  Responsible for overall management of post-award administration for the GCS Team, with grant administration on the following specific projects: National Science Foundation (NSF) grants, Subcontracts with NSF Prime, CINAR Cooperative Agreement,  OOI, and Internal Institution research projects.  Generates reports for the Directorate on a monthly basis.

BIOGRAPHY:
Jenn joined the GCS Department recently as the Pre-Award Manager after holding the position of Administrator of Marine Operations at WHOI the last three years. She has an extensive background in Grants and Contracts as she held a position at Harvard Medical School for ten years as a Grant and Contract Specialist and then later as an Administrator. Jenn received her B.S. in Business Administration from Emmanuel College.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Overall management of proposal review, contract and grant negotiations with funding agencies, policy and procedures development, WHOIgrants design team, and strategic planning.

BIOGRAPHY:
Sandy (Botelho) Sherlock started at the Institution as a Staff Assistant in October 1986 in the Purchasing Department Office (Geosecs).  She transferred to the Office of Sponsored Programs (Challenger House) in 1989, also as a Staff Assistant.  In 1994 the name of our office was changed to Grant and Contract Services and we were relocated to Bell House.  The move to Fenno House was completed in July 2007.  Prior to joining the Institution, Sandy worked at Plymouth Savings Bank in Falmouth for five years as a Bank Teller, handling Supervisory and Head Teller duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes all Institution proposals; Processes all Agency awards; Maintains WHOIgrants database of propsals and awards for completeness and accuracy; Generates monthly reports for colleagues from WHOIgrants database; Processes declined and withdrawn proposals; Monitors the Institution Conflict of Interest Policy as it pertains to proposals and awards; Provides administrative office support to the GCS Team including ordering supplies, collecting and distributing mail, and being Key Operator for the copy machine.

BIOGRAPHY:
Aleta started in Grant and Contract Services on April 13, 2009.  The mother of 5, she has an eclectic background running through a BS in high school History Education from Monmouth University, substitute teaching, teaching 3 and 4 year olds at Tower Hill Nursery School, Outreach Educator for Heritage Museum and Gardens, costuming for high school and community theater, leading a Senior Girl Scout Troop and serving on the Girl Scouts Council of Eastern Massachusetts Gold Award Review team, PTA President, Head Teller at Eastern Bank and served six years on the Sandwich School Committee, five of those on the negotiating team.

At WHOI she filled the newly created position of Subaward Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Has taken on all aspects of Subawards for GCS. Has attended classes and national professional conferences. Some of her duties in Subaward Administration are: assess risk; issue contracutual agreements to subrecipients; process invoices; and monitor subawards. She also handles FFATA reporting and other compliance with the new Uniform Guidance.



Amy L. Chadburn

BIOGRAPHY:
Amy joined WHOI on September 8, 2015. She brings 16 years of post-award management experience for a variety of government, academic, healthcare and non-profit organizations. Building on a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Keene State College, Amy began her grant career with Barnstable County where she wrote new grants and managed existing grants. Amy and her active duty Coast Guard spouse transferred off Cape Cod in 2004 which led to other grant positions in Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire where she managed workforce development grants for six years and most recently administered healthcare projects on behalf of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Amy’s specialties include pre- and post-award administration, grant fund accounting, Federal and State reporting, closeouts, A-133 audits and Federal grant compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Handles the EPA grants, NASA contracts & grants, NOAA contracts & grants, foreign entities, non-government grants and several institution accounts.

BIOGRAPHY:
John started in Grants and Contract Services in August of 2015. Prior to joining WHOI he worked in research administration at MIT for the departments of Chemical Engineering and Material Science and Engineering. John received a B.A. in History from Boston College in 2006. Most notably John is a very proud co-creator of his son, Jack.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
John handles all Department of Energy (DOE) grants, ONR grants, NIH grants, USGS grants along with Army prime, DOE prime, DOI prime, Navy prime, NIH prime and USAF Prime subcontracts. John is also responsible for all Non-government subcontracts and the Alucia lease.
