Applications: An improved method using a light source for reducing the bio-fouling and accumulation of biofilms on optically transparent surfaces of marine equipment without manual scrubbing to maintain visual and operational integrity for accurate sensor readings and communications.
Technology: This invention uses an LED for emitting UV-C radiation, a mount for directing emitted UV-C radiation toward the optically transparent surface, and a control circuitry for driving the LED and configuring duty time cycle. By using LEDs, the anti-fouling system can be more efficient, have a longer lifetime, and be more compact than traditional systems.
