|The Forum for Arctic Modeling and Observing Synthesis (FAMOS) workshop outlooks preparation is an attempt to provide an expert-based prediction of sea ice and oceanic conditions one year in advance. This annual exercise, initiated at 2012 at FAMOS workshop #1, encourages workshop participants to think deeply about arctic changes and their causes synthesizing knowledge and data from different disciplines. While each outlook prepared by a workshop participant is not a fully scientifically justified prediction procedure of the future ice and ocean state, an ensemble mean of these outlooks could be considered as a prediction providing the scientific community and public with a solution which has a relatively high probability to occur in the real world. The first sea ice outlooks (2012 for 2013 sea ice conditions) are summarized in the "Sea Ice" section. In 2013, we will provide outlooks also for ocean circulation regime (cyclonic or anticyclonic), |
ocean freshwater and heat contents.
