Visiting Summer Scholar Program
During the summer of 2002, the Ocean and Climate Change Institute hosted four Visiting Summer Scholars to address the role of the oceans in abrupt climate change. Each visitor in residence at WHOI for one week and each presented several lectures addressing what we know about the causes and consequences of abrupt climate change and what we need to know to improve forecasts of future abrupt changes. The Visiting Summer Scholars and the WHOI staff interact and collaborate on research related to abrupt climate change with the goal of seeding new interdisciplinary research using funds provided to us by a generous benefactor.
