The official Closing Ceremony for the 2012 5th Annual WHOI Fitness Challenge was held on August 21, 2012 at 11:30am at Carriage House.
Fitness Challenge participants gathered to celebrate their personal and team accomplishments during this year's 8-week Challenge.
Once again, Liberty Mutual sponsored this event and provided us with free fruit smoothies from our local Pie in the Sky restaurant.
Special recognition was given to those who supported this year's event with either a financial donation or with their own personal support. We could not have had such a successful event without them:

Gretchen McManamin from team Bigelow Bowlers for leading the pack each week for a 45-minute walk in the Village.
Shirley Barkley from team Bigelow Bowlers for leading a weekly Hula Hoop session on the Challenger lawn.
Peter Landry from team Upwellers Redux for leading a weekly Bike Ride.
Susan Darmofalski from team Girls Gone Walking for leading a walk around Ring Road.

3rd Place (Bronze Medal): Weapons of Mass Reduction (4,722 total points)
Prize: Each member received a Gym Bag and WHOI Golf Shirt
2nd Place (Silver Medal): Bahama Mamas (5,164 total points)
Prize: Each member received a Mini Food Processor
1st Place: (Gold Medal): Koscaplipandred (5,370 total points)
Prize: Each member received an I-Pod Shuffle
Top 3 Individuals with 'most points earned'
3rd Place (Bronze): Mary Zawoysky from Upwellers Redux with 1,300 points
2rd Place (Silver): Denise Barnett from Less Cargo with 1,580 points
1st Place (Gold): Cyndy Chandler from Bahama Mamas with 1,676 points
Prize: Each individual received a pair of New Balance running sneakers
Grand Prize Raffle for 'consistent participation throughout the 8-weeks'
Those individuals who exercised consistently throughout the entire Challenge were automatically entered in a special Grand Prize Raffle for the following categories. Two (2) prizes from each category were awarded and randomly selected.
3rd Place for exercising at least 2 hours per week (but less than 4 hours):

Door Prize Raffles
All participants who participated in the Challenge were automatically entered for a chance to win a door prize raffle. However, to give more participants a chance to win a prize, the prize recipients mentioned above were excluded.
Finally, a Grand Prize Raffle was given and was up for grabs by everyone who participated (all 80 Fitness Challenge participants). The lucky winner was Horst Marshall from team Leanmeanmclean who won a freshly made basket of healthy items from Whole Foods Market.
