The Underwater Image Database is an index to
35mm photographs taken from the Deep Submergence Vehicle Alvin.
These scanned images are highlights from a larger collection
of images of the ocean floor. The images document many geographic
locations and cover approximately 30 years of Alvin dives.
The database is being updated regularly and new records and
images are added weekly. Each record contains a .jpg representation
with a larger .jpg (or .gif for B/W images) attached. Click
on the image to see the larger photo. Higher resolution .tif
images are available upon request. Contact the Archives at archives@whoi.edu
