Atlantis leaves on Pioneer Array cruise

In a long-held tradition, WHOI personnel and well-wishers gather at the dock in Woods Hole to see off one of the ships the Institution operates as it departs on a research cruise. Here, R/V Alantis departs on a cruise to deploy and service elements of the Pioneer Array, which is a part of the National Science Foundation's Ocean Observatories Initiative. The coming year will see many more such comings and goings, including the arrival of WHOI's newest research vessel, R/V Neil Armstrong.  (Photo by Jayne Doucette, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
