Organic-inorganic interactions during sediment diagenesis; sediment and basalt alteration processes in subseafloor hydrothermal systems; petroleum geochemistry; theoretical modeling of fluid-rock chemical interaction; development and application of experimental hydrothermal techniques to study naturally occurring geologic processes.
