Josh Woodrow, third mate on the WHOI research vessel Neil Armstrong, takes physical oceanographer Harvey Seim (right) and researcher Sara Haines of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to set up meteorological sensors on a buoy that they just deployed off the ship. Seim is one of the scientists leading the PEACH (Processes driving Exchange At Cape Hatteras) program, a multi-institutional program investigating physical processes controlling how waters are exchanged between the Gulf Stream and the continental shelf off North Carolina. The research team also includes WHOI physical oceanographers Magdalena Andres, Glen Gawarkiewicz, and Robert Todd, among others. (Photo by Robert Todd, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
