MIT-WHOI Joint Program Celebrates 50 Years

Nearly 100 alumae/i of the MIT-WHOI Joint Program and their families returned to WHOI on July 21 for ship and lab tours, culminated by a cookout, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the program. In attendance were the program’s first graduate, Frank Bohlen, a scientist emeritus at the University of Connecticut, and its most recent graduate Dehann Fourie, now working on navigation and mapping for autonomous robots at the MIT Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Lab. The Joint Program continued to celebrate its golden anniversary with a symposium at MIT on Sept. 27, followed by festivities at WHOI on the following day.
