The copepod Calanus finmarchicus is one of the most-studied species of zooplankton. It is widely distributed in the North Atlantic), occurring in high densities, and it features strongly in the diet of many commercially-important fish. Still, we know very little about the biogeography, life cycle and population dynamics of this animal.
