I am interested in how phytoplankton diversity, ecology, and physiology influence biogeochemical cycles. As a postdoctoral scholar, I am investigating which organisms contribute to the export of organic matter into the ocean interior and whether these large-scale patterns can be explained by biological mechanisms at the cellular level.
