Microbial Ecology and Physiology Laboratory Analyses of the composition and function of microbial communities, with the goal to understand the relationship between microorganisms and their biogeochemical transformations. Special interests include the microbial ecology of hydrothermal vents, microorganisms involved in sulfur cycling, as well as the evolution and the environmental importance of CO2-fixation pathways other than the Calvin cycle.
