CICOR’s Postdoctoral Scholar Liviu Giosan received his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook on research regarding the use of sediment color in paleoceanography. While at WHOI, he will continue to work on sediments drilled during ODP Leg 172 on western North Atlantic sediment drifts. Under the supervision of Bill Curry and Lloyd Keigwin he will investigate climatic periods critical to the Earth’s glacial history such as the Mid Pleistocene Transition. He is also involved in drilling initiatives in the Black Sea area that plan to reconstruct the paleoclimatic evolution of western Eurasia over the Pleistocene. Additionally, Liviu is actively involved in coastal research, particularly in the study of deltas. Last updated: May 21, 2009 | |||||||||||||||||
