A Mooring Array to Measure the Freshwater Through Hudson Strait

Freshwater flows out of Hudson Strait, into the Labrador Sea on the southern side of the Strait, as shown in the summertime salinity section to the right.

Three moorings were deployed in August 2004,  from the  Canadian Coast Guard Vessel Pierre Radisson,  to obtain a year-long record of the freshwater flowing out of Hudson Strait, into the Labrador Sea. This project is in collaboration with Francois Saucier, from the University of Quebec, Rimouski.

The moorings will be retrieved in August 2005, and a second set of moorings will be deployed for another year.
