- Copy Editing Intern, I will read copy, write headlines and cutlines and layout the
section I am responsible for each evening. I will also act as a night editor on a rotating basis.

fall 2003 through fall 2005, circulation 9,000 with 50,000 online registered users, The independent student newspaper of Syracuse University.
- Managing Editor, fall 2005 - Hired and advised an editorial staff of 30 in staff meetings and paper reviews. Member of The Daily Orange Board, which governs finances for the $500,000 non-profit corporation. Assisted in planning stories and art in weekly planning meetings. Designed special sports page once a week. Assisted with newspaper redesign, including planning the launch of a new pullout weekend section. Began internship guide program to aid younger staff members in obtaining internships. Planned business and editorial guide to redesign the way special sections, such as sports guides, were executed. Had meetings with the Office of Multicultural Affairs to bridge gap between newspaper staff and minorities on campus.
- Head Copy Editor, spring 2005 - Responsible for reading all of the copy in the paper and on the Web site each day. Advised three assistants and taught copy skills to all staff members. Instilled a culture of copy and updated The Daily Orange Stylebook, which had not be done in more than five years. Coordinated spring fashion spread, including writing the copy, organizing the clothes, models, photo shoot and design.

- Staff Writer, fall 2003, wrote features, news, columns, fashion, enterprise, reviews.

- Reporting Intern, Life section - wrote more than a dozen stories on various topics, including health and technology. Did research for graphics for the Travel section. Attended weekly planning meetings to brainstorm story ideas and art. Helped reporter with a long-term project.
- Freelance Reporter - a profile of one of USA Today's All-USA Teachers.

- Intern - Wrote hard news, features, profiles, play reviews, sports, business stories. Designed pages, wrote headlines, jumplines and cutlines as well as edited stories. Took photos and had full photo pages of several events.
