Estuaries are complex mixtures of seawater, river water, groundwater, and suspended sediements. I use combinations of radium isotope measurements, environmental time series data from in situ networks, geophysical measurements, and computational modeling to study these mixing processes. I have used these methods in the bays of south Texas and the estuaries of California. Currently I am working to develop autonomous sampling and sensing strategies for fixed and autonomous vehicle based estuarine field studies.
