We would like to welcome all of our foreign national visitors and their families to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). It is our mission to assist invited foreign nationals, their families, and WHOI host departments by advising on federal immigration laws and regulations, and providing counseling on personal and cultural matters.

Many of WHOI's foreign national visitors come to the United States through WHOI's Exchange Visitor Program. Through the U.S. Department of State, WHOI has been designated as a sponsor of an Exchange Visitor Program to provide research opportunities in the various fields of instruction and research conducted by WHOI and to promote the general interest of international educational and cultural exchange.

We hope that all foreign national members of our community enjoy their time and experiences at WHOI, regardless of their length of stay. If we can be of any assistance at all, please do not hesitate to contact us. Also, please bookmark this page and refer back to it often. Important news and announcements will be posted here. We hope that you will look to our office as a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable resource. We look forward to meeting you!
