Affinity/Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

WHOI Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led groups organized around a common identity and intended to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workspace aligned with WHOI’s core values. ERGs report to the CDEIO and have an individual mandate to educate, advocate, and connect within the larger community. ERG’s provide resources, social support, and peer mentoring to WHOI employees, post-docs, and students in under-represented or marginalized groups. They are funded by the DEI Office and develop annual, group-specific programming for the broader community.

ERG’s have individual pages on the DEI Website where you can read their charters and keep up to date with any upcoming meetings and events. While ally support is important and welcome, ERG’s are intended to provide a safe space for members of their respective communities; events and meetings may vary in intended audience. If you have any questions regarding the ERG’s or their programming, do not hesitate to reach out to their co-chairs who are listed below.

Are you interested in starting an ERG? We are always looking for leaders who want to make WHOI a more inclusive and supportive space. If you have an ERG you might like to organize, email Natalie Nevarez at natalie.nevarez@whoi.edu or Marney Rathbun at marney.rathbun@whoi.edu.
