Affinity Groups
WHOI Affinity Groups are voluntary, employee-led groups formed around a common interest, issue and/or common bond or background that foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive workspace aligned with WHOI’s core values.
Affinity Groups serve to provide community, “safe space”, social support, and peer mentoring to WHOI employees, post-docs and students in under-represented or marginalized groups.
Currently Affinity Groups exist on a WHOI JEDI Slack space (whoimcgurge.slack.com). While ally support is important and welcome, these groups are intended to serve as safe spaces for members of the various communities.
