Providing a framework for risk management that promotes a deliberate, coordinated, and anticipatory approach to risk identification, evaluation, and management

The Risk Management Coordinator assists in all areas of WHOI’s risk management efforts. This position has primary responsibility for negotiating and ensuring the sufficiency of WHOI’s property, casualty and marine insurance portfolio, management of insurance claims and involvement in efforts to identify and manage ongoing risks. Key areas include:

 Negotiating, purchasing and maintaining a competitive insurance program

  • Identifying and closing gaps in insurance coverage
  • Maintaining schedules of insured property
  • Assisting in the development of contract language that reflects WHOI’s ability to retain or transfer risk
  • Negotiating and settling property, liability and automobile claims in conjunction with third party claims administrators and/or defense counsel
  • Serving on WHOI Committees that address risks and safety concerns

Coordinating with all departments to identify and attend to ongoing risks and concerns
