Help! I can't get a movie to play!

To play a movie file, your computer needs a "helper application" like Fast Player (or Sparkle or Simple Player). You can find and set these under preferences in your web browser application (like Netscape or Mosaic). Get to the pull-down menu that says "helper applications," and choose the video categories (".mpeg" and ".mov" for quicktime movies). Then you can "browse" on your hard drive, find your sound player application, select it, and hit "okay." To play quicktime movies (with a ".mov" extension), you also need "Quicktime" installed in your extensions folder in your system.

If you don't have a movie player on your machine, you can download Sparkle or Fast Player, as well as several other freeware and shareware helper applications, from here.
