- Release Test
This is perhaps the best image I took combining science and environment.
While we were stopped in the ice performing periodic maintenance to
the engines, John Kemp (blue hardhat) tested his acoustic releases
with help from Marine Science Technician Sean McPhilamy (standing).
These devices, when signaled, drop the mooring anchor and allow the
precious mooring instruments and data to be retrieved. In this shot,
John Kemp, the WHOI mooring guru, is preparing to send another set
of acoustic releases down to the depths.
