BODY:

The Palm Beach County Health Department issued a red tide advisory Thursday, citing complaints of coughing, throat and eye irritation from Lake Worth to Delray Beach. Red tide is a virulent nerve toxin that kills fish and can waft ashore on the breeze, causing respiratory problems for people even blocks from the ocean. It arises from the clustering of one-celled algae called dinoflagellates. The first documented red tide on the Florida's east coast was November 1972. It also was found during a twoto three-day period in late November 1996.
