The Stockroom operation exists to serve the scientific and marine needs of the WHOI community. The nature of the work here requires a wide variety of unique supply items. Many of these items must be available "on site," without waiting for shipments to come from sources out of our immediate geographic location. Items that are candidates for inventorying in the Stockroom are those have long lead times, are unique or that can best be purchased in bulk.
The inventory in the Stockroom must be dynamic, reflecting the continuing changing needs of science, engineering and marine operations. To meet this demand, the Stockroom staff must continually monitor the activity of the inventory to ensure the proper quantity of items are on hand. The Stockroom Team is also responsible for monitoring new requirements of the community and eliminating those inventory items that are outdated. Finally, the Stockroom staff is expected to continually seek out and apply best business practices in regard to managing supply inventories.

How does it work
- Two ways to order:
- Email firstname.lastname@example.org with account number, employee number, building and room number
- Order filled at Stockroom
- Delivered daily
- Order charged to account when filled
Orders are then delivered to your location. Order placed by 11 a.m. will be delivered by mid-afternoon. Special deliveries can be arranged by contacting our Distribution department directly at x2416.
Returns can be made by contacting the Stockroom by email at email@example.com or by calling x4982 for pick up. Replacement order must be submitted as new order.

NOTE: The Smith Stockroom is closed effective January 1, 2014.
The Quissett Stockroom is located next to the Carpenter Shop.
