Delmar Jenkins

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of retiree Delmar R. Jenkins on January 26, 1994 in Sarasota, Florida.   He was 82.

Delmar was born in Falmouth and was 1929 graduate of Lawrence High School.   He lived in Falmouth until moving to Sarasota, Florida, 17 years ago.

Delmar worked at WHOI for 25 years, starting as a purchaseing agent and retiring as a buyer.

Prior to his employment at WHOI, Delmar served two years as a storekeeper in the Navy during World War II.  After that, he worked at Falmouth National Bank for 25 years until his employment at WHOI.

While living in Falmouth, he was memeber of the 33rd degree Mason; a member and past commander of the W.W. Wood post No. 83 American Legion; and a member and past member of the Marine Lodge.  He also had served on the Falmouth Board of Fire Engineers.  He was a member of the Church of the Nativity-Episcopal Church in Sarasota, Florida.

He was the husband of the Reverend Bonniejean Christiansen.  His first wife, Blanch Collins Jenkins, died in 1987.  He also leaves a daughter, Lyn Christensen McComb of Carson City, Nevada, and two grandchildren.

A service was held Monday at St. Wilfred’s Episcopal Church in Sarasota. Florida.
