Henry R. Carlisle

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the sudden death of retiree Henry R. Carlisle on March 7 at his home in Winthrop, Mass.  He was 70.

Henry was born in Boston, Mass., and was the beloved son of Jack and Evelyn Carlisle.  A resident of Arlington, Mass., for many years, Henry enlisted in the Air Force during Vietnam.  After his honorable discharge, he went on to work for the Arlington Police Department until his retirement.

After his retirement from the Arlington Police Department, Henry began his career at WHOI as a Security Guard in October of 1999.  He retired in May 2004.

Henry was the loving father of Robert Carlisle and his wife Dawn of Winthrop, Mass., and Jason Carlisle and his wife Jessica of North Carolina. He was the dear brother of Janet Meaney, Jack Carlisle, and Nancy Carlisle. He was the cherished grandfather of Serena.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation at the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop, Mass., on Wednesday, March 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 8:00 p.m. A private interment service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
