Jeffrey A. Zwinakis

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of retiree Jeffrey A. Zwinakis on September 30, at his home in Falmouth.  He was 63.

Born in Salina, Kansas, he was the son of Joseph A. Zwinakis and the late Kathryn M. (Lubas) Zwinakis. He graduated from Holyoke Junior College with an A.S. in Mechanical Engineering and attended Northeastern University from 1968-1971 for Industrial Engineering.

Jeffrey began his career at WHOI in 1970 as a co-op student.  He 1971, he became a temporary draftsman and promoted to an illustrator in 1972.  In 1972 he became drafting supervisor.  In 1974, he became graphics supervisor and left in 1980.  He returned in 1981 on a casual basis and retired in 1984.

In addition to his father, he leaves his son, Peter Zwinakis, and his sister, Karen Zwinakis Jack. Donations in his memory may be made to the National Audubon Society.
