Ice-Tethered Profiler An autonomous instrument for sustained observation of the Arctic Ocean
An IBO is defined as a collection of autonomous instruments that collectively sample many elements of the Arctic atmosphere-ice-ocean system. The yellow surface capsule of the ITP seen to the left houses data telemetry electronics. Visible to the right are snow and ice sensing elements of an IMB, developed by researchers at the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory. ITPs have also been
deployed adjacent to Autonomous Ocean Flux Buoys (AOFB) developed by investigators at the Naval Postgraduate School. (Chris Linder, WHOI)
