25,000 Barrels Possibly Laced With DDT Are Found Off California Coast

Coastal Los Angeles had been a dumping ground for industrial waste for several decades beginning in the 1930s. New data from mapping the area can help inform the development of strategies to address impacts from the dumping. Studying the barrels contents and toxicity is a next step, says WHOI’s Chris Reddy, who is part of this New York Times story.
