GRAVITY: A Dominant Force in the Universe
2012 Geodynamics Seminar Series
Tuesdays 1:30 - 2: 30 p.m.
Carriage House, Quissett Campus, WHOI
"Gravity" is a very broad topic, but timely given the recent GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) and GOCE (Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer) missions. The main goal of the seminar series is to present recent and current research from diverse scientific branches, such as Earth and planetary geophysics, physical oceanography, and hydrology, in which precise measurements of gravity and geoid fields are advancing our understanding of fundamental processes such as planetary evolution, mantle convection, the water cycle, the cryosphere, and earthquake dynamics, among many others.
