Welcome Aboard

A delegation from the Consulate General of Japan in Boston toured WHOI’s research vessel Atlantis on a recent visit to WHOI: Consul General Rokuichiro Michii, Consul Mari Fujii, researcher and advisor Yoshie Katahara, and economic affairs researcher Katherine Reilly (from right to left). After discussions with WHOI President and Director Mark Abbott and Deputy Director and Director of Research Larry Madin, they received science briefings by WHOI scientists Hauke Kite-Powell on marine policy and Ken Buesseler on his research tracking radioactive contamination in the ocean from the Fukushima nuclear reactor disasater in 2011.
