See You In August

July 11, 2018

The research vessel Neil Armstrong departed Reykjavik, Iceland, recently to spend the entire month of July in the North Atlantic as part of OSNAP (Overturning in the Sub-Polar North Atlantic Program). The trip is being led by William Johns from the University of Miami to replace moorings that have been at sea for the past year east of the southern tip of Greenland. Instruments on the moorings are providing a continuous, long-term record of conditions in a part of the ocean that plays a critical role in regulating Earth’s climate system.
